ST LAWRENCE CE PRIMARY SCHOOL, LECHLADE

GOVERNORS and ASSOCIATE MEMBERS DETAILS and REGISTER of INTERESTS

The Local Governing Body of St Lawrence CE Primary School was reconstituted in March 2018 when the school joined DGAT.  It has a total of 12 Governors who each serve a four year term. They have a broad range of experience and knowledge and all governors, apart from school staff, are volunteers. Governors are appointed as follows:

  • The Head Teacher (ex officio)
  • The Vicar of St Lawrence Church (ex officio)
  • 1 Staff Governor elected by school staff and appointed by the Directors of DGAT
  • 2 Parent Governors elected by parents of the school
  • 1 Co-Opted Governor appointed by the Directors of DGAT after discussion with the Local Governing Body
  • 6 Foundation Governors appointed by the Directors of DGAT after discussion with the Parochial Church Council

The Governing Body can invite people to join a specific committee in order to share their expertise. These people are Associate Members and serve for one year. They do not have voting rights at any Local Governing Body meetings but may be given voting rights by the committees on which they sit.

The Vice Chair and Resources Committee Chair are elected annually by the Governors at the last meeting of the academic year, and the Chair is appointed by DGAT.

The Local Governing Body meets six times each academic year to help guide the overall strategic direction of the school to enable pupils to learn most effectively and achieve their best.

All Governors are also members of at least one committee and these meet regularly throughout the year to discuss their specific area of interest and provide feedback of their discussions at the Local Governing Body meetings. In 2019 the committees were restructured are follows:

Attendance at Local Governing Body meetings and committee meetings in 2018/19 academic year

Total meetings in the academic year are shown but please note that some governors may not have been appointed for the whole academic year and so were unable to attend all meetings.

In February 2019 some changes were made to the committee structure: the Finance, Personnel and Premises committees were joined to form the Resources committee; the Strategic Planning committee ended as it was felt this work was covered by all other committees and the Local Governing Body meetings; and the Teaching and Learning committee was renamed Curriculum Standards.
