At St. Lawrence, we recognise that children’s mental health and overall wellbeing can affect their learning achievement. Are actions are rooted in nurturing the whole child. Our aim is for every member of our community-children, parents and staff- to feel a strong sense of belonging so that they can grow, thrive and be happy.
The role of our Nurture Lead is central to ensuring that every child feels confident, safe and happy to belong, explore and succeed at St. Lawrence. The main focus for nurture sessions is to teach children about Emotional Literacy, helping them understand their feelings and to develop healthy strategies for managing them.
We provide responsive nurture sessions whenever a child needs it. This may include wellbeing interventions, supporting challenges such as bereavement, worry, anxiety, friendship difficulties, family separation and deployments.
